At a glance
- Your photos are analyzed on your device. They are not uploaded to us or to any cloud service for analysis.
- We never receive your photos, their contents, file names or folder paths.
- Usage statistics and crash reports — counts and technical details, never your photos or name — are sent through Google Firebase to help us fix problems. You can turn this off at any time in the app's Settings.
- Payments are handled by Apple. We never see your card details.
- No account is needed to use Gyaanra Snap, and there are no ads.
Who we are
Gyaanra Snap is made by Gyaanra (“we”, “us”). To confirm: full legal name of the entity, registered address, and — if required — a data protection representative.
What the app processes on your device
To find duplicates, similar photos and clutter, Gyaanra Snap reads the photos you give it access to:
- iPhone and iPad: photos in your Photos library, after you grant permission through Apple's standard Photos access prompt.
- Mac: your Photos library (with permission), plus any folders or individual image files you choose or drag into the app. The app can only open the folders and files you select.
For each photo the app uses the image itself and basic details such as its dimensions, file size, capture date and — where available — location, to decide which photos look alike and which to suggest keeping. From this it creates compact visual fingerprints and image-quality scores. These, and your scan settings, are stored only on your device so later scans are faster. They are deleted when you delete the app.
The number of photos you've removed on the free plan is stored on your device so the free limit applies correctly. On iPhone and iPad it is kept in the Keychain, which can remain after the app is reinstalled.
Are my photos uploaded?
No. Gyaanra Snap does not upload your photos, thumbnails or their contents to our servers or to any other service. All analysis happens on your device.
If you use iCloud Photos with “Optimize Storage”, some originals may live only in iCloud. In that case the app may ask Apple's Photos framework to download a version of a photo from your own iCloud library so it can be analyzed. This transfer happens between your device and Apple, only on a connection that isn't marked as expensive or in Low Data Mode. We don't receive the photo.
Usage statistics and crash reports
To understand how the app is used and to fix crashes, Gyaanra Snap uses Google Firebase. This is on by default and can be turned off at any time under Settings › Share Usage & Crash Reports in the app. When it's off, none of the data below is sent.
| What | Examples of what is sent | What is never sent |
|---|---|---|
| Usage statistics Firebase Analytics | That the app launched; that a scan started or finished, with its category, photo and group counts, and duration; how many photos were removed; which features were used; paywall views and purchase outcomes (plan name only) | Photos, thumbnails, file names, folder paths, locations, error text |
| Crash reports Firebase Crashlytics | Crash logs, device model, OS version, app version, a random ID created for this installation, and short technical codes for non-crash errors (for example, a failed delete) | Your name, email, Apple ID, photos or file paths |
| Performance Firebase Performance Monitoring, iPhone and iPad | How long scans and deletions take | Photo content |
| App settings Firebase Remote Config | The app downloads settings such as Pro product IDs and the free limit | — |
The random installation ID is not linked to your identity and changes if you reinstall the app. Gyaanra Snap does not use Apple's advertising identifier and does not track you across other companies' apps or websites.
Like any internet service, Firebase receives technical information such as your IP address and a Firebase app-instance identifier when data is sent. To confirm: Firebase data-processing terms accepted, Analytics data-sharing settings, IP handling and processing locations, and that this matches the App Store privacy label.
Purchases
Gyaanra Snap Pro is sold through the App Store. Apple processes the payment; we never receive your name, payment card or billing address. The app receives purchase information from Apple (such as which Pro product is active) only to unlock Pro features on your devices. Restoring purchases asks Apple for the purchases linked to your Apple ID. Apple's handling of purchase data is covered by Apple's Privacy Policy.
